Puncture Repairs in Willetton

Have you had a tyre puncture, hit a pothole or otherwise experienced a flat tyre? Willetton Tyrepower can help.

Your first priority is to find a safe place to remove the punctured tyre and fit the spare. Always ensure that you're out of the way of any traffic. Your safety should be your first priority. Do not get under a vehicle supported by a car jack.

If you need to, give us a call on (08) 9457 4546 and we'll do our best to assist you over the phone.

Your next priority is to get the punctured tyre repaired as soon as possible. These days, many vehicles come equipped with a space saver tyre. These are rated to 80 kph and are only designed for temporary use. You can tell if your spare tyre is a space saver as they're generally smaller in size than your regular tyres.

Call into Willetton Tyrepower at 9 Augusta St, Willetton and we will assess your punctured tyre. We can give you some options for fixing the puncture, if a repair is possible. Alternatively, we can recommend a suitable replacement tyre to best suit your needs.

Most tyre repairs will be done as soon as possible. For a hole or cut to the center 60-70% of the tread area, a mushroom plug will be fitted, which is a permanent seal and good for the life of the tyre. The tyre shoulders and sidewall are under the most stress while driving, so sidewall punctures and tears are not repairable as the plug would not last and the tyre would be unsafe to continue driving on.

It is important to note that some run-flat tyres are deemed not repairable by the tyre manufacturer. If you are unsure, the staff at Willetton Tyrepower can advise you.

Do you need to repair or replace a punctured tyre? Check out the diagram below for a guide.

Damage to shoulder is not repairable while damage to center of tread is often repairable

Ideally, before you experience a puncture, you want to ensure that you spare tyre is in good condition. The spare tyre should be correctly inflated at all times with more than 1.6mm of tread. If the spare tyre is older than 5-6 years it should be inspected for cracking and oxidation. If you’d like us to check the condition of your spare tyre, do not hesitate to drop by Willetton Tyrepower for a free tyre check!
